In the beginning...

Sorry for the awful title, I tend to be glib when I don't know what to say. I've started this blog to sort of document and preserve this time in my life. My fiancee/life-partner/whatever (we haven't put it on paper yet) heretofore to be referred as the Monkey King, ( I promise I'll provide a follow up story to this name,) recently received his orders to deploy to Afghanistan for

"no less than 400 days"

with the Navy. This is his first full fledged deployment since we have been together and it's not exaggerating to say it is a stressful life event for everyone involved.

As I said before my intent in creating this blog is to have a way to chronicle our life leading up to and during this deployment, a way for me to share the day to day of home with him, through writing and photos while he is far away. I would also hope that if you have stumbled onto this project of mine it is useful or entertaining to you in some way. If not, then I apologize now. When it's not 0400 I'll try to provide a more useful background story to myself and the Monkey King, but foe now let me just say that he is extremely cute.

So with this all in mind I'd just like to say welcome, I hope you find my lack of charm and poise amusing, and please ignore the clutter.
